Over the past four years, I have watched as the Attorney General has failed to advocate for the people of Nevada time and time again.

From unchallenged mega-mergers of health insurers to unprosecuted lenders who knowingly engaged in predatory practices to unaccountability of state departments and boards, the absence of the Attorney General's input has been disastrous for Nevadans. Businesses cannot afford to pay double digit percentage increases in health insurance premiums that are, in part, due to a health insurer's monopolistic power. Homeowners cannot continue to lose their homes because banks have a sense of unfettered power and control. Citizens cannot continue to rely on regulatory boards who undertake rulemaking for reasons that lack any sort of legitimate basis.

I have always believed that when something needs fixing, mere criticism is inappropriate. Criticism is easy; action requires leadership. Only through standing up and advocating a workable solution will wrongs be righted.As such, I am standing up and demanding change as a citizen of this great state of Nevada.Attorneys general in other states have prevented mergers which would create monopolies in sensitive areas such as health care.Through strict policing, banks in other states are not so brazen as to engage in predatory practices - and then to profit from the foreclosures that result. Regulations must be constitutional and fair for the people. These are some of the tenets of my campaign.

Accountability and advocacy are two that I hold dear. Unfortunately, these traits have been absent from much of government . If there is ever a public office that depends upon these characteristics, it is the office of the Attorney General. As someone who believes passionately in these principles, I have chosen to suspend my private practice to serve my fellow Nevadans in seeing these restored to this auspicious office.
