Born and raised in Nevada, Jacob Hafter is a family man, volunteer, and respected attorney. Being raised by a single mother taught Jacob the importance of hard work, discipline, perseverance and helping others in need.
While enrolled as a senior at Bonanza High School, Jacob completed coursework at the Community College of Southern Nevada to receive his EMT-Intermediate certification. Upon graduating from Bonanza, Jacob attended George Washington University, School of Medicine where he earned his paramedic certification and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in emergency medical services management. After college, Jacob spent a year studying pharmacology and working in the field of pharmaceutical research in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went on to earn a Master’s of Science degree in Health Sciences from Cleveland State University.
Jacob’s background in the medical field made it possible for him to work as a paramedic while attending law school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Jacob was one of the first graduates from this institution to receive a certificate in health law.
Jacob’s legal career began in southern New Jersey where he represented health care providers, municipalities and businesses. He developed a niche practice in administrative, regulatory and transactional health care law. In 2004, Jacob and his family moved back to Nevada, this time, taking residence in Reno. After working for a prominent law firm and in house for one of the city’s leading casino resort companies, he moved back to Las Vegas so that he and his family would be closer to his mother and grandmother. Shortly afterwards Jacob opened his own law firm. Since the firm opened its doors, its resources have been devoted to representing business owners as well as providing passionate advocacy for all Nevadans, battling the antiquated regulation of health care, systemic hospital failures and predatory lending practices.
In addition to career and family, Jacob serves on the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board for the State Bar. Also, he recently celebrated with Boy Scout Troop 613 -- a troop that he helped form in 2009, and in which he serves as committee chair -- as four scouts earned the rank of first class scouts.
Jacob is married to his wife Jackie with whom he has four children: Gabriel, Judah, Aviva, and Sofia.
